IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE COVID19 PANDEMIC

Covid 19

The Covid19 pandemic has significantly impacted day-to-day life for all of us. The legal community has been greatly affected. Courts are using new approaches to the way they deal with cases so those who are accused of crimes do not languish for long periods of time without hearings during the pandemic. It has been a challenge but everyone is trying to adjust and find their way through what unfortunately may be the "new normal" for the foreseeable future.

We are still working primarily remotely, doing phone or video consultations. Some courts are beginning trials and in-person for some hearings. I am asking clients to keep in touch with me via cell phone, email, and Zoom. It is more important now than ever to maintain communication since most of the court hearings are virtual; but some are not, and we often receive very short notice to appear.

Major updates or announcements regarding Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe counties and the Texas Western District Federal Court will be here. For the time being, there are still very few jury trials scheduled in most counties and almost all hearings are being held remotely. Even within each jurisdiction, every court may have a different way of doing things. Because the information and procedures change almost weekly, it is crucial to stay in touch with your attorney.

This is new territory for everyone. We understand the stress and uncertainty of facing criminal charges can be a heavy burden. Dealing with the additional challenges that this Covid19 pandemic brings can feel a little overwhelming for us all--but we are, as always, committed to giving our clients the best possible representation.

Please be safe, considerate of your own health and that of those around you. The future is uncertain but we remain committed to the notions of justice and fair play for all citizens. We will continue to hold the police and the state accountable to our communities for their actions. We will continue to proudly safeguard the Constitutional rights of our clients.
